1 USD = 33.13 THB · mid-market / interbank · as of 14 August 2026

The mid-market rate is the midpoint banks trade at — not what you'll be given at a counter or ATM.

This is the mid-market (interbank) rate — the midpoint used between banks. It is not the rate you'll get from a bank, card, or airport booth, which add a margin. What a transfer or ATM withdrawal actually costs you is covered in the money guides.

How to read the USD/THB rate

The number above is the mid-market rate — the wholesale midpoint that banks use when they trade dollars for baht with each other. Think of it as the "true" exchange rate before anyone adds a fee. Every provider you actually use — your bank, a debit card at a Thai ATM, an airport currency booth, a transfer app — starts from this midpoint and then keeps a slice of it. That slice is where most of the cost of moving money hides, and it is usually far bigger than the visible "$0 fee" on the label.

Why the rate moves

The dollar-to-baht rate drifts every day with interest-rate expectations in the US and Thailand, tourism and export flows, and broad demand for the dollar. Over a year the USD/THB rate can swing several percent, which matters a lot if you are moving a large sum — for example the ฿800,000 retirement-visa deposit, where a few percent is hundreds of dollars. For everyday spending the daily wiggle is noise; for a one-time transfer it is worth timing loosely rather than converting on the single worst day of the month.

How close can you get to this rate?

You will never get the exact mid-market rate as a consumer, but you can get remarkably close. Low-margin transfer services and multi-currency accounts convert within a fraction of a percent of the midpoint; a typical high-street bank wire or an airport exchange booth can cost several percent once the poor rate and fixed fees are added up. On a few hundred dollars the difference is a coffee or two; on a rent payment or a visa deposit it is real money.

What the rate means on the ground

A rate is only useful once you know what it buys. If you are planning a move or a long stay, the Bangkok cost of living in USD and what ฿1,000 actually buys turn today's rate into a monthly budget rather than an abstract number.
